Private Robert Todd, of 9th Royal Scots,was born and raised in Peebles. Before enlisting he was a Railway Signalman. Robert married in Edinburgh in 1917, during his war service and his home address was in Dalmeny.
Robert was killed in action on 22.3.1918, aged 33, in the 1918 Battles of the Somme, (21 March – 4 July 1918) during the German Spring Offensive part of the Final Conflicts that ended the war.
Robert is buried in Grave Ref: A. 15. Marteville Cemeterey, Attilly, Aisne, France, and was awarded the British War and Victory Medals.
